Aaaaaaannnnnddddd here we are again with another review after Martha prepared a fantastic cake for my girlfriend; Dulce De Leche at that. CALE WAS A HIT!!! The experience, from the ordering, the preparation, the follow ups; EXCELLENT customer service and makes you feel like your family at this point. Amazing cake; fantastic food of course, but not enough reviews regarding her baking and let me tell you....ITS COST FRIENDLY. Order yours for your next event and trust NONE of the cake gets thrown out. Too DELICIOUS!!!

Picked up food for two parties I threw this summer...my guests kept asking where I got the rice and beans and plantains from.  The penne alla vodka was delicious as well!! Great prices compared to other caterers!

The owner is super attentive and willing to introduce me different food. She also gave me some samples which are delicious. I came for the Mofongo, it's absolutely bomb. 10/10. I asked for a plain mofongo, and they were able to make me one order fresh. The food is delicious. There's a small parking lot next to the restaurant that you can park. The place is small, and I usually go for take out. Call in advance to place the order is suggested if you want something special.

The best Dominican food I've had in years. The pernil and chicken are so tender. The owners are the nicest people. Get the Sammy sosa Mofongo. It comes with fried cheese, and the sauce is delicious.

What a marvelous find in Hempstead. We absolutely fell in love with Martha and her incredible food. The pernil is indescribable as are the black beans and rice. Not to mention Martha's incredible Flan.

Martha greeted us at the door with samples and her incredible personality.

We might return every week from Manhattan. It was that good.

Wow wow wow. Dominican Republic REPRESENT! This place is a small family-run hole-in-the-wall in New Hempstead NY and needs to get more love. Extremely friendly staff and amazing food. If you want REAL Dominican food you can find it right here in NY. They even do catering for big parties. If you go make sure you don't leave without some of their legendary desserts. Will be back regularly.

Food was amazing. Staff super helpful. Felt like I was eating dinner at a friend's house. We had the pernil and chicken with the yellow rice, beans and tostones. Fresh juice, too. Took our tres leches cake to go. Lots of food. Enough for lunch tomorrow.
Highly recommend eating here.

I haven't been thrilled with the usual local Dominican places of late so we figured we'd read and heard great things about this place that's right across the Laborer's Local 1298 Hall on Fulton Ave in Hempstead so we decided to give it a shot.

Long story short...we were NOT disappointed.

I was fortunate enough to meet Martha, one of the owners of El Mofongo, on my visit today and let me say that this place needs and deserves all the love it can get.  Martha is friendly and kind and generous with any samples you might want to try. Everything I tried was, in a word, delicious.

I went in with the mindset of ordering the shrimp mofongo, so that was a given, and probably the pernil.  I ended up leaving with both, plus the beef stew, chicharrones, plantains, eggplant, and flan.

-- The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the mofongo was made with pork belly and a garlic sauce.  We happily devoured it and regretted not having more.  It's now officially a staple for any order.

-- The pernil was tender and juicy. Ask for a piece of skin for a special treat. I don't know how they do it but it's perfectly crispy without being too crunchy or too rubbery.  This dish has become the benchmark by which all other pernil will be judged for here moving forward.

-- The beef stew was also great. The meat was tender and flavorful.  The chicharrones were perfection. The plantains were sweet and the eggplant was delicious.
Even the yellow rice was fresh and tasty, maybe the best yellow rice I've ever had.  The same goes for the red beans.

As of the time of this review, we have yet to try to flan.  It's currently in the fridge while I recover from dinner but I can only imagine it's going to be top notch.

If you haven't been to El Mofongo yet, do yourself a favor and get there.

You can thank me later.

Apologies for the lack of pictures.  Everything smelled so great, we dove in before we thought to show everyone how great everything was.
